Paula is the Executive Director of Dress for Success, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering women to achieve their economic independence through various levels of support. The main being to provide women with attire to help them thrive in work and life. More than 12,000 volunteers are the driving force behind Dress for Success, which has served over 1 million women in 28 countries.

Paula’s infectious energy and passion for what she does is contagious. In this episode, she discusses how success means different things to different people and what she believes are the most important leadership traits. During times of challenge, Paula’s advice is to “surround yourself with great people.” To keep the thousands of volunteers in her organization motivated, she uses the following guidelines:

  • Partner with people who have different areas of expertise
  • Prepare
  • Look at your team and call on your troops
  • Find people who are doing it well
  • Ask questions
  • Keep going

Brittney Miller is a middle school teacher and Nevada State Assemblywoman for District 5. Brittney is a doer and made the decision to enter politics because she wanted to be a part of the solution. Although she was originally told not to run and ran a grassroots campaign against an endorsed candidate, she won her primary and ultimately her seat. Listen as Brittney shares insight into what it’s like to have two careers, what a day-in-the-life of a politician looks like, and how she spearheaded an initiative that better-defined class-size for Clark County students.

Fun Fact: Nevada is currently tied for first in the nation with a Legislature that is comprised of 40% women and a Congressional delegation of 50% women.
